nascar pro gas springs

HI,I've had my nascar pro steeering wheel for about 7 months now .While
playing the demo of Viper racing i heard a pop and found out the springs
for the gas pedal has broken(both of them).I ordered the parts from
thurstmaster and should be recieving them in 7 to 10 days.I was
wondering if anybody has figured out a  better way to repair this
problem.I hate to have to keep ordering springs every few months.Does
anybody offer better springs for this setup?

I went to the local hardware store and bought a spring.
I attached it to the pedal and then to the base. The spring I use is a
little softer but has yet to break after several years.

Regards

I've only had my Nascar Pro wheel for two months and just snapped one of the
throttle springs the other night.  I ordered replacement springs from
Thrustmaster's web site, but in the meantime I'm using a bungee cord that I
had in my garage and the pedal feel is actually better with that, so I'll
continue to use it even after I replace the springs!  The bungee cord is
almost 6 inches long before being stretched and I've hooked it to the front
of the pedal base to the bottom of the throttle pedal.  It doesn't get in
the way at all and there's no way it will break like the springs.  I just
happened to have that cord*** around, but I'd guess that a 4 or 5 inch
one might work perfectly for the brake pedal and provide more resistance
than the throttle pedal.

There have been a few suggestions in r.a.s. over the years for spring
replacements.

1)  You might want to check with an instrument store that sells guitars
and stuff and see if they have any "wha-wha" [sp?] pedal springs they
could sell you.

2)  Some people have successfully made their own springs from piano wire
(is there a musical theme here?).

3)  As a last resort some people have used coat hanger wire to tide them
over until TM comes through with the replacement springs.
