Superbikes will be making a Can-Am game after their first title is
released. This is very interesting!

Intense on-line... well It's nice to see games other than Nascar2 coming out
that are claiming to have big-time on-line support. Perhaps this is the game
Marc was hinting at in a repsonse to my earlier post.

I think we will find the old Can Am cars were probably just as much of a
handful as the
67 F1 cars. Sure they had some wings and downforce but man...those huge
Chevy
big Blocks then later followed by the monster Porche Turbos...whew...
Unfortunately we may never get to see that era...The WSC Can Am cars seem
to be
the target for the sim...
But ...just in case...
I WANT McCLARENS...I WANT CHAPARRALS!!! LOLAS ETC.

Hmmm...let's see, if it's a modern day sim we'll have the choice of a Riley and
Scott chassis with a Ford V-8 and a Riley and Scott chassis with a Chevy V-8.
Lot's of options there, could be about as exciting as Viper Racing<g>. Let's
hope they can license the Ferrari 333SP.
Then again. maybe some of the excellent hackers out there can come up with some
McLarens, Chaparrals and Porsches from the real Can-Am.
Can-Am Legends anyone?

"Can-Am" by Pete Lyons (Motorbooks International) is essential to your
racing library.
And there are a couple of very good books dedicated to Jim Hall and his
Chaparral cars -
"Chaparral" by Richard Falconer with Doug Nye (and foreward by Denny Hulme)
(Motorbooks International)
"Chaparral - Can-Am & Prototype Race Cars" by Dave Friedman (foreward by Jim
Hall) (Motorbooks International)
In brief, the Can-Am was a very popular series that ran from 1966 to 1974.
The spirit of the series was, at first, anything goes, leading to some very
innovative designs. The greatest innovator was Jim Hall and his Chaparral
cars - the wing, the ground effects "sucker", etc. The cars were sports
cars, at least in name (fenders, passenger seats) that raced on road courses
in the USA and Canada - Riverside, Mosport, Watkins Glen, Laguna Seca,
Bridgehampton, St. Jovite, Elkhart Lake .... Most of the great drivers of
the era competed - McLaren, Hulme, Surtees, Donahue, Hall, Phil Hill, Amon,
Jackie Stewart ....
Denny Hulme even called it the greatest road racing series ever.
