Great News!!
Please let me have a car editor, so I can test my real ISRS SR2-class
prototype before we roll it out of the workshop! <vbg>

Any more info, and I'll just have to set up a fan site......

The R&S and Ferrari are the top competitors now, but there's also the Kudzu
and Lola. Mazda engines are doing OK too. Ferrari is an obvious licensing
hurdle.

The first incarnation will be current day Can-Am. We're sending someone out
to the Mid-Ohio race this weekend, in fact. The official press release and
some early screens should be on the web site in the coming weeks. At the
lower end of the game will be the Spec Racer Ford, and there'll likely be a
middle class of something like CSR or S2000. This is not only to add depth,
but also to make it a more progressive learning experience. And, yes, we
will support endurance races - online and offline - including all the
darkness and crappy weather that can go with them.

Also on the slates is a "retro-pack" to "the Real Can-Am." This is the game
I'm dying to play as well. These are the cars I grew up watching as a kid -
I still remember building plastic models of Chaparrals. So, the bottom line
is, there won't be any hacking needed. Since we're doing all these bizarre
controller setups for Superbike, it'll be snap to map a spare joystick or
throttle axis to control the rear wing. And, I'm sure our physics guys will
get a kick out of modeling the Shadow.

If you can get both a working flipper on a Chaparral and Riverside Raceway,
I'll buy
2 copies direct from the company!

Yeah, I should have included the Lola<g>, it really is a beautiful chassis,
they just need to get more teams running the car to get the bugs worked out.
Sounds like their situation in Cart as well.

As far as the Kudzu though, how much longer can Jim Downing go on slogging
around with those Mazda engines without any results? He must have sunk millions
into the program with very little to show for it. I do admire his
determination, but it seems the rulesmakers are never going to let him build a
winner.

Mark, thanks for the information. This sounds like an excellent product, and if
it does come to fruition, sign me up for multiple copies. I can't wait to crest
the hill at turn 7 at Riverside in a Sunoco Blue 917/30K I also like the idea
of including a couple of training classes. Spec-Fords and Sports 2000 cars
would be loads of fun<g>.

I also like the idea
Well if the do Spec Racers right everyone will stop complaining about the
AI in SCGT being aggressive and somtimes stupid.  I think in the Spec Racer
GCR there must be a rule that you have to hit anohter driver at least once
each session, since they lean on eachother so much.

Licensing hurdle?  How about this -- just use a generic car called a
"Stallion" if Ferrari won't play.  This is what Papy/Sierra did with
the Coventry and the Masurama when they couldn't get the rights to the
Cooper and the Honda, right? <G>

Please don't forget 1977-89 5-litre era. European equivalent was Interserie
(1970-99 but real can-amish to 1985)

btw http://www.angelfire.com/me/krejcimar/index.html shows most sportscar &
prototype results after 1953

There are three brand new plastic models now available of three versions of
the McLaren from the early days.  Check your local hobby shop.

Can Am Died the moment the twin Turbo Porsche
took to the track...Nobody had anything for that
car.. :(   My memories of Can Am are the
White Chaparrals, the Orange Mclarens and those
dang funny nosed cars....I think they were Lola but
I can't for the life of me remeber.   White with L&M
sponsorship(I think!)  they had a wing
mounted to the front of the car 2 or 3 feet extended
in front of the nose....I "seem"  to remember they
were faster in a straight line but the Mclarens would
gobble them up in the turns...Why wasn't speedvision
around inthe 60's & 70's..I'd love to see those
old races again....

it sounds like MSM may have a hit here....

This is not our approach to things.

I can't really discuss our business model, but we do a lot more than simply
license the manufacturer's and track's names. We want to represent the SCCA
and USRRC properly, and we want to represent Ferrari properly.

Ahhh ... the "w" word ... I obviously can't quote dates at this point. I
sure would like to have the game running online by next year's Rolex24
though.
