Absolutely

Can-Am died with the Maclaren M20 - the year that the Porsche turbos came to
the fore. This was 1972-3. With turbos on the horizon, the days of the big
bangers were numbered.

Its all well and good to want to do that and makes the sim even better,
hopefully, but remember that the end user must be pleased.  Granted the
Coventry and Masurama aren't perhaps a Lotii, but GPL wouldn't be the same
game w/o their inclusion just because Papyrus/Sierra/whomever and those
parties could not come to licensing agreements.  Dont forget the
end-user..:)  If the current WSC makes an appearance in the game, people
WILL want to drive those Ferraris and I dare say a many unhappy bunch of
people will rant and rave if a Ferrari or Ferrariesque (applies to other
manufacturers too) cars are unavailable. :)

A virtual Rolex24 going on at the same time as the real Rolex24...now that
would rock. :)

I admire your approach, and I hope Ferrari (and ALL the manufacturers
and sponsors) will cooperate fully.  If not, though, I think Chris is
right -- it's a crime to forget your end-users.  Integrity must come
first, I understand, but if you can't get agreements with everybody,
you probably should consider generic substitites at least for the sake
of additional variety.

Do you have a track lineup yet? I will assume they are of the *real*
variety.

I guess my comment wasn't taken in the way I intended. We don't feel we need
to have ersatz manufacturer names thanks to our relationships within the
racing world. Having a current day Can-Am game with the Ferrari would be
like ... well ... having any other road racing game without the Ferrari. It
just wouldn't be Right.

Again, keep in mind what our press releases have said. We have
*partnerships* with the AMA and SCCA. Not just name licensing. To properly
represent the organizations which run the series, we need to have access to
the manufacturers and teams who do the racing.

The REAL Can-Am finished in the late 1970s.

Anything that followed was (and is) but a pale imitation.

Hmm....I know it would have been ridiculously unfeasible, but can you imagine
an 8 liter v-12 with twin turbos? Holy....
Coulda been fun.

Depends on if we model this year or next year's season. And on licensing, of
course.
