SCGT Viper sounds?

I just dloaded and tried out the Viper GTS and it looks
great, drives cool, but there is no engine noise.  The only time
I can hear anything is when the car is at idle, as soon as I'm moving
the engine note fades away and I can hear cars that are waaay behind me.
Is there a fix for this or are any of the new cars gonna be silent?

Many of the car makers use non-standard sounds for
their add-on cars. If you don't have the specific sounds
that they use, you will have no sound.

You need to edit the engine sounds in the .veh file because the car
creator used .wav files that are not included in the original sound
folder.
The .veh file for the Viper should be in the patch folder. Open this
file with notepad. Then you need to edit the four engine sounds using
wave files from your sounds folder. I use the following:

Inside Engine Idle = IDLEIB.WAV
Outside Engine Idle = IDLEEB.WAV
Inside Engine Revved = ENG2IE.WAV
Outside Engine Revved = ENG2EE.WAV

You can use any other IDLE and ENG files that are in your sounds
folder. Hope this helps you.

Did the downloaded car include WAV sound files? If so, the WAV files don't
go in the patch subdirectory. Try putting the WAV files in the
sounds\22k16bit subdirectory.

The original poster had no evidence to back
up the middle of the month date. It is 10/2, folks..

You can get Rrevveds version 2 sound pack with the volume levels
adjusted to fix this problem when using the incar/bumper view.  It has
new sounds for the default cars too.  If you're driving a downloaded
car, it may not fix that cars' sound.

Oh yeah, the Viper's in SCGT are actually better looking than the
Viper's in Viper Racing.  GTInsider has most of the cars, mainly what
you do is dload, the car, unzip it into the patch directory and
then when you load up SCGT, the new car is waiting for you to purchase.
You have to use the career mode and activate the cheat menu to get
"quick" access to all the cars,
They have Vipers, McClarens, tons of Porche's and Bimmers and GTP
prototypes.  Plus they
have just recently gotten an open top WSC car body done.   Looks great,
There is only one official patch, that is up to version 1.551 and that
helps some stuff.  But most of the "enhancements" are being done by
private users.
Most of the SCGT sites either have links to the cars or the cars
themselves.  Be warned tho...I ran the Viper at Donnington and shredded
the rear tires in less than half a race.

the link is..
www.gtinsider.com  but at the moment it is not responding.  I think the
recent hurricanes have played havoc with the routing of internet
packets.
