Open the nurburg track.ini
and change the stall_0 = line to:
stall_0 = 20000.00 0
Notice the space before the last 0.
This is start you in the middle of the long straight, giving you about 30
secs to heat your
tires up before you cross s/f.
you can change it to ~ 21500.00 to start in Tiergarten
Thanks :)
Somewhere in the track.ini is a list of stalls. When you practice you always get
stall_0. By changing the two values after is you can position yourself anywhere
on the track! The first is the amount of meters after the start/finish line, the
second is the amount you are to the left or right of the center of the track
(negative is to the right).
Below are some of the values I have in my track.ini. Experiment with it.
stall_0 = 230.00 -9.30 ; original pit
;stall_0 = 19200.00 0 ; start of long straight
;stall_0 = 11200.00 0 ; halfway
;stall_0 = 13200.00 0 ; just before caroussel
stall_1 = 219.47 -9.30
stall_2 = 208.95 -9.30
stall_3 = 198.42 -9.30
stall_4 = 187.89 -9.30
Good luck on the Ring.

Others have explained how to move your pitbox, but I might also add that
if you're just in training mode, and you're just learning the Ring, it
might help to turn damage off. That way you can keep practicing on hot
tires, etc., all the way around without having to shift-r or something
to repair damage.

Doh! I'd completely forgotten about Shift-R. That'll make things a _lot_
easier!
Steven,
there is a utility called Ringtrainer (check with goggle for the URL)
You can change your starting location to anywhere on the track. Chose something
before the long straight, so your tires will be fairly warm when starting the
lot lap.

Who, me? <g>
I just figured if he was crashing that much, simply moving the pitlane wasn't
going to help. He'd *still* need to learn the track a whole lot better. Trust
me, I've been there...

I'm down to about 2 off-track excursions per lap now and a best time of just
under 9:20. The only problem is that one or the other of those shunts is
usually enough to either knock a wheel off or damage the suspension so badly
that I limp around for the rest of the lap. I had forgotten about the
Shift-R reset, so a crash 3/4 of the way through an otherwise good lap was
enough to make me walk away in frustration.
With the reset handy, I can afford to be more aggressive, spend more time
learning the latter half of the track and actually enjoy the 'Ring rather
than tip-toeing around it.

It will let you start at the beginning of the long straight. Also, it will
not prevent you from joining online Nurburgring races.

Doesn't GPLEA have a weed whacker add-on for the front of the car, so you
can hack your way back out of those hedges? Works great at Monza too,
if you overdo it exiting Lesmo 2.
