GTR 2002 - favorite track?

I've always LOVED Monza, and I still do but after reading Dave H's time
at MagnyCours I decided to give it a go.

I LOVE this track. I don't mean for its looks though, which I don't have
time to admire anyway, but I just love driving this track.

MagnyCours seems to reward you with good times if you just develop a
good rhythm and it will kick the ***out of you if lose that rhythm.

I admit I haven't tried them all yet as I like to know a track inside
and out before learning a new one.

Which tracks do others like and why?

Yeah, these tracks are great and the fact that they're new means a lot.  I
enjoy Spa, but my times there are so far off the pace it's embarrassing...
:(  It was one of my best track in F1 2001.  Time to go back to the drawing
board as far as setup goes...

After doing all the tracks last night to get my rank i have to say i like
the tracks ive not driven at before. Sugo, Mugello and misano are real fun
technical tracks and even tho im 5 sec off the pace i love throwing the 550
round these twisty ones

I raced Donnington for about 10 minutes, but the rest of my time so far has
been spent at Brands Hatch, the best motor racing circuit in the world.

I love Brands Hatch and Mugello.  I tried Oscherschleben (sp?) yesterday
and really enjoyed it.  Also tried Sugo and Valencia and did not like
them at all.  One of them, I forget which one (Valencia?), didn't have
any brake or turn markers, which just makes it damn hard to learn the
track.  And Sugo would have been good if they hadn't stuck a moronically
tight and blind double chicane towards the end of it.  Must be some kind
of FIA ***....

I don't want to sound racist or Xenophobic but WHAT IS IT about those
Japanese chicanes?  You are right...Sugo is great up until that
dagblasted-ultratight chicane.  Same for Suzuka...wouldn't it be great if
they just smoothly turned onto the s/f straight?  ..........

SUGO should be easy to fix though...just remove that barrier, looks like
the straight line is fully modeled.

Same with Spa, too. That's the only bad thing about Spa-Francorchamps, the
bus stop chicane.

I think we have talented enough guys that we could create a whole group
of cleaned up tracks.  Sugo, like I said should be easy.  Not Suzuka because
it doesn't have an alternate track bypassing the chicane.  That would
require full blown 3d editing.  Spa would also be easy, merely changing the
AIW file to have the cars bypass the busstop and continue down the short
straight to the s/f straight.  Same goes for the last turn at San Marino,
the left/right combo before Bridge at Silverstone, Or that rinky-dink first
turn at Monza.
You would have to rename the tracks...wouldn't want Johhny and his shiny
new Porche to  slam on the brakes for a hard right while the rest of the
field goes screaming through the shortcut.   All in all, by eliminating as
many rancid chicanes as possible it would make for a more enjoyable
atmosphere.

I think we do, too.

That is the most important one for me, to be able to convert a merely
'great' track to 'fantastic' standards.

I think I agree with this one, because it is a relatively straight run from
the bottom of the hill up to the chicane at Tamburello.

Not sure about this. Cars coming out of Club to one of the best overtaking
opportunities on the track is a good thing, but having them run straight
from there through Bridge (which is a single-line corner) would be worse in
my opinion.

Same again. We don't want to change *all* the tracks into ovals now, do we?
That would just be boring...

I wonder how many laps it would take before he realised...

Mostly yes, but some should remain in my opinion.

Actually Spa's chicane no longer bothers me.  You can brake for the
first part as though it were simply a low speed turn, and then if you
use the curbs you can pretty well accelerate through the rest of it.
Not really that bad once you get used to it.  Granted it would be more
fun without it, but it's not as grievous as the chicanes at Sugo,
Suzuka, or the first one at Monza.
