What are the GTR 2002 "Track Extrs"?

by Larry Lindstro » Tue, 22 Apr 2003 03:32:06

Hi Experts:

   I'm reloading F2 2002 and GTR 2002, this time
on my WIN 2000.  A single P3/600 is taxed by GTR
much more than F1 2002, so I wanted to try
harnessing both my processors.

The install is going fine.  Early tests of GTR
under dual processors is promising.  But I've run
into a mystery.

   Dave Henrie pointed me to:

http://www.racesimcentral.net/
804ada9b6ad8495d41

Which lays out the step-by-step to install GTR
2002.

     8) sbdt_GTR2000_track_extra ( pinned thread up
here) will fix textures for a few tracks

I've looked around, and I don't know what this
instruction is referring to.

What, and where, is this "track extra"?

                                            Thanks
                                            Larry

Without referring to my notes:  :)   I'd guess the extras are the added
details that were made available for the 3 tracks that came stock with F1
2k2 that are used in GTR 2k2.  Most of the GTR tracks are conversions from
SBK or GP 500 I think, but three tracks, Silverstone, France, & Spa were
already in the sim and didn't get the same graphic tweeks the other tracks
did.  Once they had GTR fully out the door they went back and redid the
graphics to better match up with the other circuits.
You should be able to find a link to the track patch on the main sbdt
index page or perhaps blackhole motorsports.

unless the software understands how to run on 2 cpu's you won;t get much of
a boost.
In fact you might actually see slow down.

Please report back though as I have never personally tested f1
I would love to know how f1 runs on a duel and if it takes advantage of the
extra cycles it will now have on your system.
