See ya in the pits,

I have a terrible memory. In fact my memory's so bad I can't remember how
long it's been since I've forgotten anything.
However... I'm having a weird effect here (never encountered before on other
tracks)
The track itself has a (I don't know how to describe it exactly) white
smearing effect...
It's like the track is wet (in the distance) and dries out when you come
closer...
Anyone experiencing the same ?
Greetz,
Franky
Also we built the track using DX render in mind with these settings :
-in your "player".ini file the line texture_quality=100
-in your rend_dxg.ini file the line MipMapLODBias=-1.99
-graphics settings ingame were all full except shadows and we also used
extreme filtering .
The filtering is what is causing the problem you see. I saw it too, and it
went away when I turned on extreme filtering. Unfortunately extreme
filtering (aka anisotropic filtering) is a big frame rate penalty with my Ti
4200 so I can't use it. But IIRC Radeons can do aniso with little or no
penalty so YMMV.
And yes, I agree, the track is superb!!!

I've never tried the GPL track. But our layout is pretty similar to
the track in F1C, except for the last bit which was changed for this
season.
That's true, at the moment you need to use extreme/aniso filtering to
get rid of the smearing. We should be able to fix the problem, though,
so that you can use "normal" or "high" filtering in N2003 and not get
the smearing. Look for an update tomorrow hopefully.
Thanks for the comments, guys!

Go to http://www.teamredline.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=305 and
you'll find the fix at the very bottom of the first post with some
instructions how to install it.
I hope this helps you guys with older video cards!

Oh, ***! The track should definitely work fine with that card. Are
you using normal or high filtering in N2003? With extreme filtering
you shouldn't have any issues, but I don't know how much of an fps hit
that is with the 9500 Pro.
I've heard from a few other people that the fix solved the problem for
them. Anyone else here still having probs even after installing the
fix? I don't know what else to suggest... double-check that you have a
dir called trackmat in your MagnyCours dir with 22 mips in there.
You could also try checking the ATI control panel and making sure that
you don't have the Mipmap detail level and texture preference settings
set to lowest (high performance). Those shouldn't have anything to do
with the problem after applying the fix but you never know...
Thanks Jason, I agree that the second chicane is a bit off with the
elevations. We'll try to get Spa 100% correct. <g>
