Chicane in Magny-Cours?

Chicane in Magny-Cours?

In F1GP, there used to be a chicane after the Adelaide hairpin in
Magny-Cours; it is not there in GP2. Was it removed from the actual track
or is this a bug of GP2?
Another thing: since sky texture is such an fps-eater, why didn't
Mr.Crammond "plot" the untextured sky as a gradient of blue (brighter just
above the horizon). This would give you a much better feeling of being
under an actual sky, instead of that dull blue-grey one we were "gifted" in
GP2. This is, of course, a minor remark, but, having to play GP2 in a P100,
finding the best graphical setup is just about as hard as struggling with
the first couple of chicanes in Monza...

It is not a bug, I think the chicane was removed before the 1993
season (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm doing this by heart).

Hi.....

Have you actually driven gp2 at Magny-Cours? There is a slight s-bend,
called the "Esse" bends?
As you come out of the tight hairpin (Adelaide bend) you accelerate and
flick the car to the right, and then to the left, that *is* the Esse
bends?

Its not much of an s-bend I admit, but it *is* there.

I play with a 486 DX4 100 Mhz, 16 mb ram, and its even harder to find a
good balance, in fact I just stick to vga graphics, and actually get
quite good frame rates, 19fps usually, with some details on. I actually
quite like the vga graphics!!!! (sad but true?)

It was removed from the actual track for the '94 race (or maybe '93, not
sure about the year).

What a shame that the organizers removed the blind chicane at Montreal.
After driving the GP2 version for three weeks prior to the Canadian GP,
I was really e***d about watching F1 pilots blast through under full
power.  One of the ESPN2 commentators remarked that it had been removed
for safety reasons a couple of years ago.

Living very close of the track (5 minutes walking), and knowing some of
the organizers of the F1 Gp of Canada, all I can say is that they
removed the chicane because of the chances of a major crash after the
last "turn" of the chicane.  BTW, this chicane wasn't the one with the
tires. It was the same as in Gp2.  The track owner thought that a car
could maybe be able to jump over the track and get into the Olympic
lake, like in Monaco.  This was part of the "after-senna's death"
security increa***t in F1.

With great respect,
