GP2 sound card setup problem

by Colin Taylo » Wed, 09 Jun 1999 04:00:00

Hi all,

I've been trying to install GP2 and I can't get SETUP to
complete.  The only thing to set up of course is the sound card.
I have a generic card that emulates a sound blaster pro.
However the setup program refuses to detect it (possibly
because it uses interrupt 7 instead of the more normal 5).
Without completing the setup GP2 will not start.

Any ideas???

Regards,

   Colin

Are you running it in Win9x or DOS? If DOS, you may need a utilty to
init your soundcard for that environment.. check its documentation. If
Win9x, double check the sound settings in 'Control
Panels->System->Device Manager' (IRQ, DMA and range), then enter the
settings in the GP2 setup.exe manually. It may take a few tries to hit
the right combination, but when you do.. save changes and you'll be
fine. Ctrl-Alt-del when the set-up prograqm crashes as a result of bad
settings. Good luck

I had the same problem, it doesnt work with the autodetect.
So I set it to soundblaster and then it worked fine!

Thanks for the suggestions.  I've tried under Windows 95 and
plain DOS.  (I can't change the properties in Windows 95
because they're fixed for this paticular card.)

In GP2 setup I don't get as far as being allowed to change
the card settings.  As soon as I select ANY card from the
setup list it comes back with "Sound card not detected"
[chicken and egg syndrome]
