Sound Card Setup Problems

Sound Card Setup Problems

by John Simmo » Mon, 17 Jun 1996 04:00:00

My dad has a Tri-Gem computer (purchased thru mail order).  It has a
"TeleSound EX-16" sound card in it.  He bought NCR today and when he
runs setup to select a sound card, NCR detects a Microsoft Sound System 8
Stereo when automatic selection is used in the setup program.

When he "continues confirmation", the setup program freezes up.  He has
tried changing port port/irq/dma to settings shown in Win95 for the sound
card, and it still freezes up.

He's tried selecting Sound Blaster 16, 8, and Pro, and the steup program
tells him the driver isn't compatible with his card, yet the soundcard
manual clearly states that the card is at least SoundBlaster Pro
compatible.

No matter what he does, setup freezes up on him.  Does anybody here have
any suggestions?

Update - He fixed it on his own.  Turns out the card is actually compatible
with the GUS card and all is now well.
