Well, my PII 450 should be on it's way to my door this afternoon and it's
starting me thinking. :-)  Right now my system is as follows:

PII 350
2 Voodoo2 8 meg cards running in SLI
Viper 330
128 megs of ram
MX300 Sound Card

I'm also going to pick up a V3 3000 next week and from what I've read,should
not expect much improvement over the 2 V2's I already have.  Maybe not, but
my sister's kids will love the free video cards they'll be getting anway.
:-)

Anywho, what should I expect from GPL from my current video config with the
new 450?  Should I be prepared to be let down, pleasntly suprised, or
something in the middle?

I think you will be pleased with the improvement to a 450 over the 350 you
now have. From memory I think I was getting around 27FPS at the back of a 19
car grid with  all details on and the slider mid-point at 1024x768 on a

with a V3. The other advantage that a V3 3000 will give you is that it will
run at 1280x1024 which looks really smooth. A PIII 550 will get  the magic
36 all the time at 1024 with a V3 3000.

I run GPL on a PIII 450 with a V3 3000 and 128mb RAM. I have ALL settings on
max (don't useFF though) and 1028x768 - the only time I don't get 36fps is
on the grid - drops to high 20's - but back up to normal after first corner.
I have to say that this sort of performance has improved my driving
substantially .
