So far I really like the card. I have had it for two months now and really
haven't had a problem with it. It was cheaper then a GF3 TI500, has more
features, and has about the same performance in games. Plus before the F1
patch I was able to play it just fine with no problem unlike the geforce
users.

Picture quality on the 8500 is better, IMO, than any current NVIDIA
card that I have seen (and we have a LOT of different cards in the
office).
As far as performance goes, it is not the fastest in every benchmark,
but it is faster than the Ti500 in many benchmarks. I wouldn't give
the award to either card with respect to performance.
Many people have had problems with ATi drivers, but I have had none
with my 8500 thus far.

I have just bought the 8500, trying to decide which drivers I'm going to use
(for Win98SE and XP Pro). Could you tell me which driver version you're
using? (and OS)

Good luck to you,

Well, that would depend on what games you play. On the ATI beta XP drivers
FS2002 is really screwed up. But if you use the Omega drivers from here
http://209.145.56.247/ati.htm FS2002 is fixed. I don't have any other games
that have any problem on the R8500. Well, I had to create a custom graphics
profile for IL-2 Sturmovik and in Operation Flashoint I have to turn off W
buffer support. Apart from that everything runs well. Except ATI is still
not tapping the full potential of the R8500 with their drivers and that is
the only reason the GF3 Ti 500 beats it in many games.
I can name three games that the GF3 has issues with on WinXP so their track
record is not perffect either. B17-2, Panzer Elite and Combat Mission:
Beyond Overlord all have issues with GF3 cards on the Nvidia XP drivers. But
I hear their latest drivers fix the issue with B17-2.

Yep, I'm probably going for the latest Omega drivers as well.
Cheers,
Ice D
Sorry Ati....not there yet.
