OH MY GOSH! You solved ALL my D3D problems, Colin! I have been chasing
various driver/motherboard/PCI/APG/ISA problems for MONTHS now trying to
get my system acceptably stable, with mixed results. I followed your
lead, since my success rate with D3D games has been on the decline
lately, and IT WORKED! I do have a motherboard with a VIA chipset, and
the VIA 4-in-1 drivers helped a *little*, but I have still been
suffering lockups occasionally. After reading your post, I downloaded
the PowerTweak utility, installed it, let it optimize my motherboard
settings, and then played D3D games ALL WEEKEND with NO lockups!
