Curious which driver version is given the best performance/stability?  I'm
using an MX card with W98SE.

Thanks

Dunno about with N4 since it's not out in the UK yet, but all the 6.xx
drivers are fast and stable.  I use 6.50 which are the latest official
drivers from nvidia but 6.18 and 6.34 were also problem free.  Basically all
the official drivers from Detonator 3 (6.xx) onwards have been extremely
reliable.

Anything from 7.xx onwards are unofficial beta drivers.  Just stick with the
official nvidia drivers and you won't have any problems.

Well....I'd tell you......but then I'd have to shoot you!

.....lol....

I'm running the 7.52's.....they are very stable....and I've had no problems
I can attribute to them.....with the card oc'd as follows:

    Core: 270 Mhz
    Mem: 480 Mhz

I'm getting FPS figures in N4 of 60's to 90's....depending on detail sliders
and number of AI......at 1600 x 16 bit.  I get mid 40's at 2080 x 16.  I get
mid 20's if I turn on FXSAA (or 32 bit screen color).  My card is a GF 2
ULTRA....running on a 1.1 gig T-bird...not oc'd....with 512 mg RAM
(PC133)....and I guess I should add....an SB Live, 5.1 X-gamer sound card.
My 3DMark2000 scores on this rig are mid 8000's.  I've got one run of a
9028....but I haven't been able to reproduce that consistently.

Regards,

Tom Pabst

I played around with oc'ing my GeForce2 GTS last night and it worsened the
frame rates in N4!!  Tom, I assume you are a GPL-head.  It is difficult to
find nVIDEA drivers that don't screw-up the menus in GPL (at least it has
been for me).  How do the 7.52's run in that regard?  I have also heard that
many of the "unofficial" nVIDEA drivers are actually slower than the
released versions.  Have you compared the 7.52's with any others?  Any ideas
why the frame rates might drop with oc'ing?  Could it be an AGP setting?

Thanks,

Marc.

Yeah I was worried about that....your version:
v7,898,3212,485,902.00010000300004-aC was a beta that should never have left
the Nvidia labs..that one was leaked to the internet with some severe
emotional problems.  Unfortunately you can't easily remove
that driver so you'll probably have to end up fdisking your system.  They
may 'seem' to
be working fine now, but if you don't act fast, you'll be getting quite
familiar with the
color blue.  I stand by my previous recomendation of:
v7,898,3212,485,902.00010000300004-aB
(ain't cut&paste wonderful?)
