GP3 and weather

Hi,

I hope Microprose reads this.
In future release of GP3 it's very important that the
weather is an option that COULD BE DISABLED.
Exactly like the "car realism" in GP2.
If not, well forget this F1 simulator for GP-leagues
because driving circumstances would vary in the
different races driven by the league members which
is unfair of course and will make competition impossible.
So the future release of this simulator will loose a lot of
interest among GP drivers and especially members of a
GP League.

Hope that MP realizes this !!!

I think a solution would be the ability to save an events' weather profile
so that it could be distributed to the members of a racing league.

In addition, I think it would be an excellent feature if it were possible to
manually construct a weather profile. In this way one could create the same
weather situation in the sim  that occurred in real-world F1. A nice touch I
think.

Either way, computer generated weather or manually constructed weather, as
long as such can be distributed amongst league members then we should have
the best of all worlds.

Since we drive in teams it will be hard not to tell the other team mate how the
weather was, if one drove ones race first, would it not? Another possibility is
to drive the race first just to check the weather, and the do ones off-line race
planning for the weather. I would of course never do so, but I'm not as stupid
to believe that everybody else wouldn't :o). Several of my colleagues at work
ask me why I dont redo my races whenever I crash out. My answer is always - Sim
racing will develop to be an online event pretty soon and if I cant produce the
same results online as I did offline, then I'd look really stupid, wouldn't I
:o). I dont think every sim racer think about it this way, but I do :o).

Since we all watch the real F1, it wouldn't be much of a surprise as it is in
real F1. We could plan for the rain coming down after half the race and there
would be no gamble.

/Christer, not being helpful am I :o)?

Yes the unknown-weather-factor doesn't have an obvious solution when it
comes to creating or swapping weather profiles around. The only think that
comes to mind is an honour system which applies to a number of elements of
sim league racing anyway. I used to be in a racing league once where the
honour system seemed to work very well. If someone crashed out in the 1st
lap they'd say so etc. Of course such a system is only as good as the
integrity of its members and ultimately there is no way of policing it.

( looks like my Internet time is used up for the month so I'm off line till
1-2-98. :-(

Philip,

At this time neither Geoff Crammond or MicroProse is not looking at
publishing another Grand Prix racing game, despite the incorrect rumours to
the contray on various WWW sites.  If we decide to publish ANY product we
always issue a press release and this can be viewed on our web site,

Ha HA! A carefully crafted double-negative ; If neither Geoff Crammond
or Microprose are NOT looking at another racing sim, that must mean
that either or both of them are! Good news, good news....

Just kidding Mark :-)

Cheers!

Mark,

Does Geoff still work for Microprose at all?

As I'm wondering whether you mean he is not looking at publishing
another grand prix racing game *with* Microprose.

But presumeably, if he doesn't work for Microprose, or with
Microprose, he could be working on another game on his own, or with
his own team, or with another company?

Mark, if Micropose is not looking at publishing a new game, and has had to pull
GP2 off of the shelves due to licensing concerns, why do you continue to
monitor this group?

Inquiring minds would like to know!

Microprose and Crammond are BOTH working on another Grand Prix
racing game?  Can you say "double negative"?  Is this meant
to be a confirmation or denial?

"neither Geoff Crammond or MicroProse is not looking at". This has
got my head spinning. "neither" is "not looking"? Does this mean they
have ruled it out or that they have not? Should this say "neither *are*
looking at............"?????????????

Be nice if the shagwits had actually released Gp2 complete in the
first place instead of the half finished product it was. (Good
nonetheless, but not anywhere near as good as it could have been.)

These idiot games developers make me sick releasing half finished
products. But then people will buy them, which means we continue to
get f*cked over by the games companies. 10 minutes alone with them
with nothing but a baseball bat would do the trick... Beat their sorry
asses until they mend their ways.

Blame yourself. Right! Microprose made ONE key-mistake leading to the bad
state GP-2 is in ever since it's release:

Mention it being developed.

Ever since MP said ANYTHING, even insignificant, they were asked time and
time and time again when GP2 was to be finished/released.

The presure became so great, they were "forced" to release an in-complete
product. Hence, it's NOT the great simulator it was supposed to be.

Again, blame yourself for the "debacle" that is GP2.
