N4: Best Modem Settings for Online Racing

I'd like to try N4 online, but before I do, I'd like to know the best
connect settings for a 56K modem.  In GPL, I'm told that connecting at a
speed below 28800 is optimal in terms of quality and error-checking.
And it does indeed seem to maximize my connection to VROC.

Would these same settings be optimal for N4, or should I be connecting
at the fastest speed that I can?
