I have the Logitech, one big reason I could actually see one at the local
Best Buy (never have seen an ACT Labs in person). I really, really like it,
and don't have a problem with the pedals. I'm starting to think a big thing
with the pedals is whether you wear shoes or not when sim-racing. I never
have, always bare feet or with socks, for extra control (and since my old CH
Pedals didn't quite fit my size 10 Reeboks <grin>) Without shoes, the
Logitech pedals seem fine to me - but when messing around for a few minutes
waiting to go somewhere yesterday with the shoes on they indeed felt like
they had no travel or tension. I think the way they're designed to go down
into the base makes going "shoeless" mandatory, too much weight on them for
the springs with shoes on, and not enough feel / travel with shoes on.
So if you already go shoeless, or wouldn't mind doing so, give the Logitech
a try. You can with some workarounds run CH Pedals or the like on the
gameport in conjunction with the wheel if you really hate the pedals, but I
think they get somewhat of a bad rap - I can control brake lockup better in
GPL with these than my previous TM NASCAR Pro pedals (good travel, lots of
tension) or Mad Catz Andretti pedals (huge amount of travel, little
tension) - and have the better lap times to prove it. :-)
