GTR 2002 Issue...

I downloaded this mod last night, installed it this morning, and immediately
went to the Indy course with a Porsche.  But for some reason, my car won't
go any faster than 78 km/h.  If I up shift, the engine just lugs along at a
lower RPM.

I played with the sensitivity settings on the wheel, turned off all driving
aids, and still have this problem.  Anything else I can check?

I'm using a MS Force Feedback Gameport Wheel on Win XP.  In F1 2002
everything works fine.

Thanks,
Russ

Congratulations.  You are User Number 3, 544 who hasn't read the manual.
Included with your purchased copy of F1 2k2 is a rather small booklet which
lists the keyboard commands.   You will find the key to toggle the PIT LANE
SPEED LIMITER listed there.(it's the L key)
:)

Russell, almost everyday when the mod was***released, we had people
asking the same question.  Don't feel bad.  I guess EA has got to learn to
write better manuals so folks can figure out what is going on.  :)

Dave,

I didn't have problems with that but I sure couldn't find the key
description (spacebar) in the manual for turning off the startline
movies/car introductions. And I did RTFM to the best of my abilities.

My point exactly.  We have been bombarded with questions here and in the
various web forums about SIMPLE things like the Pit Lane Speed limiter, or
bypassing the starting intros.  Clearly the documentation isn't the clearest
in these regards.  Glad you did find what you were searching for tho..

I dunno, there's a point where user responsibility has to override
flaws in the documentation, especially when the feature in question is
both documented and intuitive if you've configured your controller
map.

I can remember a couple years back in this group someone could come in and
ask a simple question without getting flamed like this...

"Russell Laughlin Jr."
I thought it was more directed at EA but my apologies if we did sound
harsh.  The thing is...even if you didn't find it in the manual, there are
the controller screens where it is listed...AND it is a question that has
been asked here adinfinitem(sp?)   A quick read through the various posts
about F1 2000 F1 2000CS F1 2001 and F1 2002 would have turned up hundreds of
threads with the same problem.  It's not just you believe me.
and WE did answer your question...we didn't just give the old standbye,
RTFM.  Sorry if we blistered your skin.

I thought he deserved it Dave...i am sorry to say.

There has to be a point where a person has to think before posting....

Have i made the best attempt i can to find the answer...?

Using simple logic where *might* the answer be...?

Something along those lines....nothing more,no rocket science.

But that post was just so typical of that type.

Don't beat yourself up Dave...:)

LOL Dave!

Use a second "old" machine for your productivity stuff running
Linux, set your *** rig next to it and leave the wheel
attached at all times. Works great for uptimes of your linux
box in the hundreds of days (as it should), and you will only
have to type in a funny sort of way and pose during races ;-)

Have a merry xmas,

uwe

Dave, my response wasn't directed towards you, but rather to Jason Moyer.
Yours is one of the few familiar names I still recognize when I visit this
newsgroup.

And Jason, if it's of any interest to you, I'll be glad to post a picture of
my computer desk/bookshelf and let you see if you can find the F1 2002
manual.  I've got almost every game manual for every game I've purchased
since 1997 along with countless Microsoft texts, software guides, magazines,
etc. and to dig through that stuff on Xmas eve at 1 AM isn't my idea of a
good time.  Knowing that there are guys like Dave who seem to know all when
it comes to auto sims*** out on these boards and can answer a simple
question with a 6 word response makes my life and many others much easier.
It took much less effort on his part to answer the question and certainly
less time on mine than searching on google for another post.
