Will F1RS 1.09 help me? I'm having a weird problem.

I'm finally got F1RS and I love it. It seems like it want me to hate it though.
After I have been trying to race for a while, it just kicks me the f*ck right
out of the game and back to Win95 like nothing was ever running. It drives me
nuts! Thirty minutes into any session... BANG... everything I've been working
towards is lost and there I sit staring at my pretty F1 wallpaper. What gives?
Will the 1.09 patch help me? Is it some DirectX thing (BTW I don't have a clue
what DirectX does, will someone please explain it to me in their free time?) or
a Vid-Card thing? I don't think it's just me. My biz partner took it to the
office to see if it looked better on our 333Mhz machine and it did the same
thing. All I can say is, "DAMN IT!!!"

Hardware:
Asus P2L97 motherboard w/Intel 266 MMX
64Meg SDRAM
ATI XpertXL 4Meg AGP video card
Sound Blaster AWE64
DirectX 5 (see above... it's the one that came on the CD)

Please help me if you can!!

Have you tried turning off all backround applications, screensavers, virus
checkers, etc?

Make sure you aren't running a screen saver. Sometimes they knock out programs
running after 30 min or so. Also read the FAQ here  in the newsgroup. I always run
F1RS without anything else going by starting windows and holding the shift key down
while it starts to bypass my startup programs.
