F1RS Help - lockups on P3 600/TnT2 ultra with 1.09 patch

It happens on my PC too - K6/2-400, 128MB, TNT2Ultra, SB Live 1024, Win98.
It also happened with 95.

Solutions I found:

  - sometimes you can un-crash by pressing CTRL-ALT-DEL once
  - use Windows 2000 (I did, but my Logi. wheel doesn't work!)
  - upgrade to version 2 (Monaco GP RS2)

Not terribly helpful, but at least it's not just your system!  :-)

F1RS Help - lockups on P3 600/TnT2 ultra with 1.09 patch

Hi all,

I know it's a bit of a dinosaur but my fave racing sim remains F1RS.
Recently brought a new computer (P3 600EB, ASUS TNT2 Ultra, 128M under Win
98 SE).  Having installed the DVD version of F1RS plus patching to 1.09 the
thing locks up on the entry menus.  Reaaly frags the whole computer and i
generally have to do complete reboot.

Does anyone have experience with this problem or a possible solution?

Thanks in advance,

Mark Wilson

It maybe due to duplicate *.dll's.  If memory serves correctly (and it
is about as reliable as my Brabham at Kyalami)....  the 1.09 patch
places at least 1 ForceFeedback dll in the F1RS directory that may cause
a conflict with the one in your Windows or Windows\System folder.  Same
may apply to video DLL (but I don't recall that being the case).
