Patching F1RS To The Latest, 1.09 Question

by Scott R. Lun » Sun, 03 May 1998 04:00:00

I should be getting my copy of F1RS in the mail next week.  It's the
US version, and I'm just wondering so I'll know ahead of time: to patch
it to the latest 1.09 version, do I need to run any previous patches or
just this one?  (Hopefully just this one!).
I'll be running it with a CL 12 meg V2; does this patch fix the
purple fonts in the game?

Each patch patches the whole, it doesn't seem to matter which version
you patch.  To the best of my knowledge you can patch old version over
new versions and visa versa.

It was either 1.07 or 1.08 that fixed the purple font.  Can't remember
which.

Yes but 1.09 is THE patch to use!

Ok, don't hammer me if this was already asked. Is the US version of F1RS any
different fromt the UK version?

Thanks.

Different manual (black & white), no evil adverts (booze & ciggies).
Otherwise all things seem the same.

Without the *** and cigarette advertisments, the U.S. version
should have the word "Simulation" stripped from the title of the
game.  It just doesn't feel real.  :)

Hey Marc, just go get yourself a carton of Foster's and put the box
on top of the monitor. That should do it :)))

and make the sim a sim again...

Well I don't drink or smoke.  So I gotta spend a little cash just to
upgrade this game back to a simulation.  Man, the upgrades never end,
do they?  :)

Maybe your European cousins could unpack the "evil" adds and post them
on the web so us puritanical Yanks could stuff them back into the sim?

They are all available at The Unofficial F1RS site.

I was fortunate enough to find the UK version here in Los Angeles, but I've
already changed most of the track adverts, skylines, cars and sounds anyway.
With the new patch, 1.09, this thing is damn close to a finished product.

Three cheers to Ubisoft for their continuing support of an already good
product.

Patching F1RS To The Latest, 1.09 Question

by sysbo » Tue, 05 May 1998 04:00:00

Can anyone tell me where I can download the full english demo forr
F1 Racing Simulation? More than 1 site named would be great as there was
one I found it on, but there were problems with the site.
Could have been Avault, or Gamesnet, can't remember.
Thank in advance.
