Well, it looks like the NASCAR fans missed another fine open-wheel race.

Not really, I think I saw more of the Cart race just by switching to it
during the commercials of the Nascar race on TBS.

The race was amazing, particularly the finish.  Do you reckon Montoya got a
tow off that backmarker he was right behind as they crossed the line?  I
reckon that made all the difference.  Damm, I wanted Andretti to win...

Whew ... at least there are still a few people who know a great race when they
see one.  Whoever called it similar to a NASCAR "plate" race had to be joking.
Although the drafting is similar, the additional 50-60MPH of top speed of the
CART cars results in a race that keeps you on the edge of your seat.  Once
false move and they could be scraping you off the track (and Fittipaldi is damn
lucky in this regard), which is not the case in NASCAR.  This added element of
extreme danger is what separates the men from the boys.  And not just any
driver (CART or otherwise) can do what Michael and Juan did in putting on that
fantastic display of racing.  Although I wanted Michael to win, I am very happy
to see him proving beyond doubt that he is no where near "washed up" as too
many trolls seem to think.

As for your question, yes, Juan got a tow there at the end.  In fact, he said
he just kept his foot in it and was determined not to lift, even if it meant he
was going to run in to the back of Marquez  (the slow car).

Thought as much.  :)  That could be the best finish i've ever seen.  I've
always thought Michael was still a great racer, nice to see him proving it
again in Toronto and again at Michigan.

I had the picture in picture thing going, and was much more
entertained by the Cart race I'm afraid.

And who was it that said "watch the Cart race at MIS and see all the
empty stands".....looked pretty full to me. Much more than the last
IRL race I saw.

There were some stands which appeared full, and some stands which
appeared totally empty. As an Aussie getting really interested in the world
of CART, this lack of crowds disappointed me. How can NASCAR be more
exciting than an open-wheeled oval race where cars reach up to 400km/h (240
mph)? I guess there's no accounting for taste. Each to his own! :)

Yeah he got the tow, but did Andretti really want to box Montoya in
behind the slow car? Maybe Andretti wanted to get a bit of that draft,
making it appear that he was trying to box Montoya in. By the way, the guy
who limped out of his car when he had a near-disaster during the latter
stage of the race, I think it was Fittipaldi, is he alright? What is the
nature of his injury?

Sorry, no idea about the injury, we don't get any post-race coverage of CART
here in the UK.

Michael admitted in the post-race interview that he was hoping to get the draft
from the backmarker(rats, can't remember his mane).  Unfortunately(for Mike),
the guy moved up the track, and gave the tow to Montoya.

Christian banged up the inside of both of his knees while the car was
spinning across the grass, he was fine after treatment with an ice pack.

You do, on C5.  Though the time they were showing it was ridiculous.
4:00 am Tuesday morning and my videos knackered. Thought I would be able
to catch a couple of hours kip and be up to watch it.  Woke up at 7 when
my alarm went off. :(

Y'know, I couldn't have told you if the stands were full or empty.  I was too
busy watching the exciting racing action... :)
