GPL Performance with G200?

by kcdc » Tue, 13 Oct 1998 04:00:00

Hi,

Assuming I could ever get GPL running my Matrox Millennium G200 card, is the
performance any good? If not I guess I'll bite the bullet and get a Hercules
Thriller...

Thanks,

The G200 driver is very beta.  There are severe enough graphics glitches
that I'm back to using my Voodoo 1.  In particular, the driving line is
clipped as though there were a cleanup crew a few car lengths ahead of
you.

I thought it was quite playable at 800x600.  (I had to turn down a few
things to get 36 fps.)  It was too slow at 1024x768, way too slow at
1152x864, and 7 fps at 1280x1024.  This is on a P2-333 at 412.

Thanks very much for the info Dave. Sounds like I need the Thriller card to
have any hope with my 233 PII.
