Greetings,
I have a couple of questions regarding my Stealth II and Nascar
2/GNEP. I can't seem to get top notch framerates running out of WIN95
with the following configuration:
Acer P75 o/c'ed to 90MHz
24 MB RAM
Stealth II (PCI slot 2, IRQ 9 set in BIOS)
Stealth II drivers installed w/o InControl Panel
DX5 installed (if it matters)
Quickcolor Display program with monitor set at 1024 x 768 (16 bit) at
72 MHz (max for my generic monitor).
All system tray items (virus, display) are off/disabled. CD Autoplay
off.
I installed N2 in windows, then GNEP. My batch file to start the
program is: nasrend -dma -4.
I'm 95 percent sure my system is DMA compatible. I can run N2 at
Atlanta (for example) with 12 cars ahead 2 behind, grandstands on,
walls on, smoke/dirt on, and all other features are off. The game is
fluid and playable with the current set up. The game does stutter
briefly coming out of turn four on the first lap out of the pits in
practice and occasionally in traffic.
While the game is much more enjoyable than with my 2MB CL card, I
don't feel that it is performing optimally either.
I remember reading a post once from someone (E. Busch / Michael
Carver? ) regarding running N2 in windows (setting DOS parameters
correctly, i.e. memory, screen, and misc. settings).
Any help would be appreciated.
