I have a GPL Banchee Fix at my page, The Fast Lane...

It fixes the errors which occurs with the 3dFX Banchee cards, you even can
change the framerate of the mirrors!

So go to the Fast Lane:

I'm a big car racing fan and a fan of all sim racing game's.
What I would like to see is a game where you drive a horse
in a harness race or a game where you are a jockey riding a
horse in a race. I have seen games for racing where you are
*** and training the horses but you never ride them. I
have seen a game in an arcade in Japan where you ride the
horse but never in Canada. Why not make a game like that? I
have raced go karts and it is fun I have also raced horses
(Harness horses), and it is more exciting to drive a horse
than a car! Not to knock driving a car it is very exciting!
All I'm trying to say is I would love to see a game that
let's you drive a horse in a race.

I think I saw the arcade game you were talking about at the new high
tech arcade at Metrotown mall in Vancouver. You actually had to decide
wether to come from off the pace or go to the front etc. as you rocked
the horse back and forth.
As an old horseracing fan Id love to see it on the pc, but I have my
doubts that there would be enough interest in it.

It's difficult to imagine what the control would be for
a horse on a pc !  Somehow I can't see a joystick really
cutting it.  Half the fun of the arcade machine is the
action of "riding" the machine - "riding" a keyboard couldn't
be as much fun, could it ???

I installed this fix yesterday to see if it did indeed eliminate the
intermittent texture problems in GPL with my Blaster Banshee card. While I
didn't see any texture problems, GPL locked solid, requiring a cold boot,
halfway around my first lap at Silverstone. You know, the old "video stops,
sound continues" problem. I've not seen this AT ALL since I replaced my old
TNT card and OpenGL patch with the Banshee.

Leads me to believe that there might be a problem with this patch. Has
anybody else see this occur with the Banshee fix?

Depends on your idea of fun, I guess...

Just purchased a Banshee, haven't installed it yet, but was wondering where
to get the patch.

Patch was a no go for me - it worked OK for the game itself but all
the option screens were screwed up - the option screens ran using only
the upper left 3/4 of the screen no matter what I tweaked in the
set-up file.  (The game ran full screen)

The readme file mentions that the menus will be messed up, the author
felt it was worth the sacrifice to have the game work reliably.

According to the author, some of the Banshee problems are a result of
resolution changes when GPL switches from the menus to driving/replay views.
He apparently chose to eliminate this by trapping calls to Glide that change
screen resolution. So if you're running 1024 x 768 in driving view, your
menus are displayed in that same resolution and hence occupy only a portion
of the ULH corner of the screen.

I'm still concerned about the locked screen I mentioned earlier in this
thread. In addition, there's a performance hit associated with trapping
calls to Glide. Perhaps, the author could address that here?
