info I have found after recently switching to win 2k. On startup you may or
may not be getting an error message about "VDD (virtual device drivers, 16 bit
subsystem" and so on..(I remember that phrase in the ealier post. If not yet
you may (I don't remeber it at the beginning.) It showed up after I had
installed some older (win98) games on win2k.
A friend who is an "MS certified something or other" looked up the message on
TechNet and says that the older stuff is putting a "key" into the registry on
install. The problem is that the item the key is calling for is not in win2k.
So far the error has allowed me to click on "ignore" and move on. (However
F1-2000 no longer works right anymore-it did for a while.) He says it is an
easy fix if you know what you are doing--I don't--so I am still waiting to get
him over to fix it. So while I can't say if this will fix thae posted problems
I did want to pass the info on in hopes that it might steer someone in the
right direction. After I get my "repairs" done I will pass any further useful
information to the group. No promises-but information is good--right?
