Interested in Voodoo3 3000 for GPL and a few other Voodoo only games I still
enjoy.   I get 20-22 FPS in GPL at start of full field race and 28+ during
race with mirror set to 3 and graphics set 1/3 on slider and lower details
on drop downs. Currently here is my hardware:

128 MB Ram
Creative Riva TNT 16MB

Seems many of the benchmarks show V3 3000 much faster than regular TNT1.
Image quality looks good as well.  I don't care about AGP4X or 32-bit
textures so much since in 12 months I'll prob need a new rig anyway to play
games that use such features :-0.  Any one make this upgrade?  Is is worth
it now?  I just don't see TNT2 Ultra offering much more pure speed based on
early benches vs. V3 3000.  And at $250 for the TNT Ultra vs. $150 for V3
3000, that's just not a good Mpixel/$ value to opt for TNT Ultra.  Seems to
me with V3 that CPU becomes the bottleneck at this point so anything more
would be unused until PIII 600 or so.  Please help.

I also have a celeron o/c with a thriller 8 meg video card. At 374 I get high
20's on the grid and 36 by the shift to 2nd. All graphics, all cars, detail 50%.
This card runs GPL great and for people that think it doesn't run anything but
papy sims I must sat Mechwarrior 3 runs great! I thought I would upgrade to a
21" and new video card when N3 came out but it looks like I can save that money.

Guys...

You might be misleading some readers by citing GPL frame rate performance
for various boards without giving all the details.

In addition to graphics settings, including the all-important Detail Bias,
you also need to cite the number of sounds, the type of sound hardware,
field size, position in the grid, and perhaps most importantly, the screen
resolution, as all of these have an impact on frame rate.

With this complete information, readers can draw more accurate conclusions.

Thanks.
