I just installed N2 on my new computer, patched it up, and added a few
utils, and suddenly strange things start to happen. First at Talladega,
then at C***te. It is a graphic phenomenon, which occurs only after a
while, and if I saved the game, and rebooted, it disappeared.
I have attached some replays for you to check out, and if this bothers
some, I am truly sorry, but I can't find any binary groups.
And this is for the sake of the game...

Anybody able to help? I would'nt like to install it all over again,
because of all the utils I have incorporated!
The rpt files ar from C***te (not night)
Best,
Matt

While the original poster did violate one of the rules of the newgroup,
did your post really help matters?

Tolerance, and simply informing someone of something they may not have
known would probably be the better course.

No reply required.  Just let it go..

I *Did* write in my original post that I was terribly sorry to include
the rpy's. Now, from what I've seen lately, there's not so much traffic
here right now, nobody should be blocked out.
If anybody even bothered to watch the rpy's, they would agree. How the
hell should I try to explain this to anybody???? Seriously!
And I also said * I Do Not Get Access To The Binary Newsgroups *
I live in Norway (on the other side of the planet, way up North, Europe)

Besides, I got no reponses from anybody, so what the hell should I care.
The problem is probably a bug in one of all those patches I have
downloaded from the net! And it only makes the game totally useless.

If, however, I should act like an 11 year old, and write a message like
"Cpr sucks, cpr rewls, gp2 is for sissies, here's a few tracks for you
etc etc" I would get a million replys. Is something gone off the rocker
here?

Well most times it is.  Matt I checked out your files and didn't
notice anything strange about them.  I'm thinking it's something to do
with your graphix card or your system.  Looked ok here.  Maybe you can
tell me what I should have been looking for?

% Goddamned!! Get lost with your ***ing binaries!!!

I understand your frustrations.  Maybe you can ask your ISP to remove
them from their newsfeed.  My ISP removes large binaries from the
discussion groups in usenet before they make the news server.

BTW:  For those who aren't aware, we have an alt.binaries group for
posting of r.a.s. related binaries.  Please help out those who have to
pay phone charges to access the net and post your binaries there....

The following is from the r.a.s. FAQ:

o Please do not post large binary files like GIFs, JPEGs, MPEGs or WAVs
to rec.autos.simulators.  They will fill the Usenet disk partitions at
some sites. Some people cannot select which articles they want before
they have to download them. Post them to alt.binaries.simulators.autos
newsgroup with a short post to rec.autos.simulators to notify anyone
    who is interested.

You can also set some news-readers not to download items longer than a
specific number of lines. Mines is set to some arbitrary limit to stop
it automatically downloading binaries in groups where I get all the
articles rather than just the headers.

Cheers!

Some of you have troubles with binaries here - a lot of us don't even
get into no "alt.binaries.simulators.autos.

There is a problem here....

Matt:)

Thank you for taking the time to look!

That's bad news for me...
It happens whenever I play for any long period of time, as in a race.
After about 35-40 minutes, parts of the graphics "smudge", or stretch
out in long rays. This is difficult to explain...
At Talladega, I had the top of the grandstand suddenly appearing over
the track (like a "beam"), and after a while the cars adapted these
beams also (now black in color), which would explode in all directions,
sometimes blinding my vision completely. Like somebody had a major disco
party going on in the grandstands with a wacky laser show, or the WC
cars had adapted black spotlights.

I guess I'll either have to capture a screenshot, or just reinstall the
game. If that does'nt work out, I'll give the 'puter shop a call..

Again, thanks, and I'll try not to post too many biaries here:)))

I had something similar happen to me once with my Intergraph 3D card in
N2, only it basically happened as soon as I fired up the computer.  All
I needed to do was re-boot and things were fine.  I suspect some "memory
leak" somewhere.  Check your CMOS setup and turn off cacheing and
shadowing for your video card.  I missed the original post (coulda been
my ISP canned it if there was a binary attached), what video card are
you using and was this in DOS or Win?
