Dear Papyrus,
I think I have found a bug in the car setup sheet in nascar 2.
Fortunately, it appears to be cosmetic and does not seem to affect game
play. The track I have noticed it on is Rockingham, in testing mode.
I have the following weight settings:
Front-Rear: 52.1% (1825 lbs)
Cross: 49.2% (-25lbs)
These settings yields wheel weights as follows:
925 750
974 850
The problem is very repeatable by following these steps.
First adjust FUEL (to increase back to 22 gallons),
then adjust the cross weight to -30lbs (take out 5 lbs).
The wheels weights will jump to the following.
893 718
1006 881
These numbers are way off. You can then adjust the cross weight back
to -25 lbs, but the wheel wieghts are still wrong. If you adjust
the Front-Rear weight (add or subtract 5 lbs), the wheel weights
will return to normal.
Fortunately even though the wheel weights are displayed wrong, it
doesn't seem to affect the handling of the car (i.e. the correct
weights are used), I could be wrong though. Somebody with more
car setup experience should check this out.
Another minor problem is on the camber display. The labels
for the LF and RF should be swapped, i think. It looks like they are
right in the manual (p. 134) but reversed on the screen.
Finally, and I think somebody has already mentioned this in this
newsgroup. If you setting the LF (on display) camber to 0.00, when
you re-enter the display, it will show up as -2.20 sometimes. Although
when you ajust it, it will show correctly (-.1 or .1), again appears
to be just a cosmetic bug.
Except for maybe the first one, these all seem to be minor bugs
compared to the AI pitting problem at Atlanta, etc. I thought somebody
should now about them (maybe you already do) nonetheless.
By the way, despite these problems, I feel the game is a vast
improvement over N1, and have already gotten my money's worth in
entertainment. Keep up the good work!
Please let me know if you need more detailed information on these
problems (sim settings, car setup, etc.), or have problems reproducing
them.
Thanks,
Brad
