Help with Logitech wingman formula force!

by Sunny Cho » Fri, 24 Aug 2001 02:22:26

I just bought a new desk but it has a metal frame under the wooden top
which prevents the two 'arms' of the steering wheel to go under so I can
tighten the knobs, even at the maximum travel.

Here is a simple cross section diagram to illustrate the frame under the
wooden top.

I'm sure there are others here who have faced this problem, and would
like to hear how you solved it (apart from getting a new table!)

Thanks for any help rendered!

Best regards

A. Cut two holes in the table frame
B. Add a wooden extension to the table with clamps and mount the
wheel to the extension.
C. Large magnets ;);)

i don't know if this'll help you but one of my plastic 'clips' broke a long
time ago so i replced both with metal 50mm 'C clamps'.  like this:

http://www.truevalue.com/images/products/small/708271-b.jpg

works great and they're cheap enough.  and before with the plastic ones i kept
having to tighten them or the wheel would come loose.  with these i've never
had to tighten them mid race.  you might think about getting longer ones.

if you do get one of these get some small round non-slip pads that can stick
to either the desk or clamps and inside the wheel.

The dimensions are missing on your drawing ;-)
Can't you simply turn the unit over the edge?
I mean: hold the unit (wheel down) against the border and then turn the unit
into the right position. If your tables frame is not too high, this could work.
