Since the rumors have already started flying about a March 02 release
(yeah right)... what would everybody like to see in N5?

Off the top of my head:

- improved vehicle damage model
- debris on track causes cut tires
- blown engines drop oil
- fire! fire! FIRE!
- dynamic weather during race
- larger textures for cars
- set the game in 1985, or 1955, or...

Cheers,
Gerald

I agree with everything but settibng the game in the past. I want a *modern*
NASCAR sim, lol. Also, give us more options for tuning during a race,
specifically the ability to change the brake bias from within the car like
the real cup cars can now. Also, move the***pit view over and up where it
should be. As it is now we have a lowered *tv in-car* instead of a real
driving position. I've been in cup cars and even driven one at Fast Track
Driving school down in C***te, you CAN  see the hood when sitting in one
of these things.

I have a feeling N5 will be the expansion pack type thing. Kinda like NR99.
I really doubt they will redo everything in less than a year.  I do like the
1980s idea alot.

Hi

Since you asked, I'd rather the skipped the whole and went to work on
GPL2

(hey, I can dream)

FWIW, IF they plan on releasing GPL2 next fall, then they are already well
underway.  While both may be based on the same code, there will be two teams
working out the details I would think.

Oki, I'll swallow this bait too and would like to add:

- being able to see more Pitcrew's (i.e the competition)
- the ability to use worn ("scrubbed") tires during practise sessions
- imporved spotter / crewchief (give the spotter more "AI")
- the ability to loose one cylinder and still be able to complete the race
- better engine-damage model
- ability to see whilch part of a tire that get's worn first: I / M / O
(i.e. spilt the "wear-bar" into 3 "dots" that change colour according to
wear: Green => Yellow =>Red => Gone!  Once one of the three "dots" have
gone - the tire has blown (puncture).
- a better solution to the "wall-riding problem"

I have to disagree with you about the view.

It really depends upon the driver as to their view.  Dale Earnhardt sat very
low in his car and could not see his hood.  Dale Jr does not see his hood,
however some others may.

Everyone has a different seating position.  Maybe make it a little
adjustable, now that would be nice

Here here on the wall riding deal. I don't have many problems with it as-is,
but T3-4 at Darlington are terrbile, I mean you HAVE to brush those on
occasion...

I have seen a guy emitting engine smoke (like he had lost a cylinder) and he
managed to smoke his way around 5 laps at Watkins Glen to finish a race.
Wonder what that was? (No sarcasm, general curiousity)

Punctured or blown tires. They are close, I've driven so far past *red* that
my tire no longer registered any air pressure. But driving over debris to
cause a puncture would be neat, but they will never implementt it. With the
amount of criticism I see about how "unrealistic" the grip is and how
newbies can't go a lap without spinning after first getting the game,
they'll never make it this real or it simply won't sell.

Didn't SCGT or Viper have an adjustable seating position? Or maybe NFS
Porsche? Anyway, it should be an easy thing to implement. Up/Down, and
Forward/Back. Hell, maybe even Left/Right so you could try driving a stock
car from the right hand "seat" <g>

This is actually a damn good idea!

Allowing for "personalized seating posistion" within a set "box" or
boundries would be great!
Allow for each driver to choose his own posistion so that those who like to
sit upfront and/or uphigh can see the hood and those that like to sit low or
further back will see more of the sky...

Naturally the change of seating posistion will come at a prize...   -
weigth!  Move the seating posistion around and you move the centre of
gravity around...  - the higher you sit the more you roll :-)

Damn... this *is* a good idea!

Yes!  Add an adjustable figure to force you to make the field.  Say 45
drivers vying for 42 positions.

Save this for NASCAR Legends 2.  They sure shoulda waited to release NL
with the N4 engine, I think it would have fared much better.
