Well, in a certain point this is the case.

It is easy to lap around the track.  Take per example : Atlanta.  It's a
really easy track.  I bet anybody here after 1 day can lap it over 180.

But check out the NROS at http://www.racesimcentral.net/;and try to constantly run
perfect laps for a full fuel fun at 185mph with 20humans around you.

So it's easy to be fast, but not easy to be always fast ;)

The stretch between being good and excellent is less than the others, but
it's as difficult as any other series in the world.  Nigel Mansell once said
: "I never though oval racing was fun, but after my first race, all I can
say is  those drivers are very good". (something like that, not exact
quotes).

Well, if other countries had a fraction of the type of athletes we have here
in the U.S., maybe you could play, understand, and enjoy a REAL sport like
the NFL, NBA, and Major League Baseball.  :-)

Part of the thrill of Nascar, is running 20 laps in a row and fighting for
maybe a two foot gain on the guy in front of you.  It makes you work on your
setup much more, as you can only overdrive the car so much before you start
to overheat the tires and lose traction.  Unlike in gp2, where sometimes if
you overdrive the car, you can be greatly rewarded.  There are other little
intricasies, but that is one.  Instead of basing you opinion on one race,
try running the championship at 100% difficulty level, and tell me you can
win a race on the first try.  I'll be very impressed if you can.  Also it is
one thing to win a race, it is another to win a championship.  Try all the
tracks, you won't find them all easy.(Especially if you have some of the
tracks included in the truck version.)  Nascar is not about turning a
tremendous lap time, it is about consistency, and close racing.  N99 tries
to do this well, and accomplishes it for the most part.  Hopefully the gpl
engine will make Nascar 3 even closer to the real thing.

Hum, let's see.  We've had the MLB strike and currently the NBA lockout.  Why
would other countries need wimps who sit on the sideline with a broken toe or
pulled muscle and still get paid $20 million to do so?IMO, I think racing is
the only REAL sport because you have to EARN your money and if you want more,
then you have to win more races.  Just my opinion

I can say that if you bump up the competition over 100% and you race for
about 2-3 hours straight, you start to get the feel of true NASCAR oval
racing.  Yes, sometimes it can get boring but so does every game.  We race
over a local area network with about 5 people and the computer cars and it
can get pretty exciting.  It will be much better with version 3 but at the
moment we're having a lot of fun.

Make sure you don't buy BURNOUT it really sucks going race after race 6
seconds at a time.stage the car, mash the gas on the green light, cross
the finish line, and it's over in a few seconds, then you get to do it
over and over again till your eyes burnout in the wee hours of the
morning.I bought nascar2 back in 96 and still play it a lot,and the drag
racing game burnout gets used a lot too, about 10 hours a week or
more.for us racers it's the best . the game is in the set up,then
winning a race it's worth all the time spent getting the car just
right,i guess you really have to love racing to know how we feel, give it
a try aganist real people on TEN!

It is the most popular sport in the world.

No, the US is included in the "world".  Even with your 250 million
dissenting votes, it is still the most popular sport in the world.
