In the 4th test or so, well, I manage to do the 360 in less than 15 seconds
as required, but the game doesn't stop and the chrono continue to turn...
What am I doing wrong ?

In order for the chrono to stop, you have to complete the entire turn
within the 'cone zone'... it's finicky, but try to focus on starting the
turn just as you enter the 'cone zone', and of course... completing it
prior to crossing past the last set of cones.

Good luck... you will get it...

You also have to actually do a *good* 360 - I thought I was, but it has to be
one fluid motion, and the "360 symbol" over the cones has to disappear.

Good luck! It gets more ***ing.

What about the race around the four pylons?  You have to show some other new
test driver the ropes by driving a newer white 911 around four pylons.  I
cannot get this one.  I have tried the handbrake, tried using the regular
brakes to rotate the car, dropping thr throttle, downshifting.  I get bogged
down too much at the exit of each turn around a cone and lose lots of time.
Help.

Which one is this exactly? If you can describe it a little better I'll try to
tell you how I did it.

(assuming I *did* do it : )

If I remember it correctly: imagine four cones at the corners of a square.
You have to drive to the first cone and do a turn around the cone, drive
back along the bottom edge of the sqare to the second cone and drive around
it, now diagonally across the square to the third cone, around it, across
the top edge of the square, quick turn around the fourth cone, then
accelerate like mad to get back to the finish.  (I may have mixed up the
sequence a bit).  The first time through it is tricky to even figure out
where to go, but now my problem is I still can't execute the corners quickly
enough.... I lose momentum.

The way I got through this one was to stop trying to cut the corners so
closely.  My problem was that I was driving AT the pylon with the intent of
turning sharply around it, thinking that would be quickest.  Instead, once I
got the 'course' mapped out in my head, I made wider sweeps around the
cones, exiting closer to them and entering much wider.  These somewhat
'straightened' corners allowed me to sustain more speed and finish that
stage.

Thanks, I'll give it a try tonight.  After I try the D3D patch on GPL...
er... maybe the cone test will have to wait a little.  Or maybe not - I'm
finding NFS:PU very ***ive.  I gave my girlfriend a sour look when she
came to ask me a question and the loss of concentration made me
snap-oversteer into a bridge in the middle of the last lap of a tournament,
missing the opportunity to advance.  When I tried to explain to her why it
was so important, and that I would have to go back and spend another half
hour trying the damn 911 Turbo tournament, she just rolled her eyes.

Stephen:

daxe has it pretty much summed up below (or above, depending on where this post
shows up..)

I also found it *quite* helpful to actually slow down a little so I could keep
my grip in turns.

Try this:

Sketch the layout of the cones, then pretend they are the inside apexes of the
turns (which they are..) Then sketch the "groove" or ideal line... then try to
drive it! This literally knocked 4 seconds off my third attempt at the skidpad
cone challenge where you drive straight, then slalom left, then go up and back
four times..

good luck!

Andrew

PS.. yes, it's ***ing.

PPS.
1) Winning race.

2) Wife walks in. "We got an overdue phone bill again! We paid this, they
screwed up again! Will you call them from work tomorrow? Also, the table guy
didn't call back. They're ***s. I mean, when did you call them? Wednesday?
Look, I would expect it to take a day or two to call back......

3) Well, at least it's not $1 per play.
