NFSPU, can't get the 360 in factory driver..

by Andrew Turne » Tue, 20 Jun 2000 04:00:00

I know it has to be done within the cones... I've tried everything; hand
brake, manual, automatic, downshift, etc.

Any help appreciated. I bet I could do it in a real one, though.

All I know is that the more beer you drink, the harder it is to get it
done...
Maybe if you lay off the sauce a little! ;)

It has been a while but let me see if I can remember my technique. I
assume you are trying to do it in the 911 Turbo and not the GT1 (that
comes later.) I used the auto transmission just to make things a
little easier. Hit the cones at about 60 mph or so (I think.) Use the
handbrake just enough to get the back end to come around and then let
it go. So when you hit the cones, go hard right on the wheel, get off
the gas, and hit the handbrake for about 1/2 a second, all at the same
time. When you get the the 180 point (looking at where you just came
from) turn the wheel the other direction and that will help you
through the second half of the spin. When you are a little more than
3/4 of the way through the whole 360, turn the wheel back the other
way to avoid overspinning.

Good luck!!!

thanks Walk, I'll try that...

And all this time I thought it was the crack.

NFSPU, can't get the 360 in factory driver..

Hi,

I can't tell you exactly how to do it, but it gave me fits, too.  I
remember thinking I was never going to get it, that I wasn't co-ordinated
enough or something.

It wasn't until I stopped trying so hard to perfectly co-ordinate a
sequence of maneuvers that it just kind of went around, and somewhat
gracefully at that!

Suddenly I was able to just go spinning around all over the place at
will on that skidpad thing.  It is a very fluid movement when you get it
down.

So, no explanation of what to do, just a little coaching to relax and
let it flow.  It is not a wild series of flailing moves when done correctly.

~daxe

PS..pay more attention to steering than your brakes.  Brakes kill momentum
and your momentum is what carries the move through.

;-) I know what you mean - might turn out to be expensive in tyres and
body panels though.

I guess you've probably cracked this by now, but I had trouble too.
Ironically, when they ask you to do this later on you get a 993 Turbo
rather than a 993 Carrera, the the Turbo spins much easier. (thank
goodness)

Two points I noted:

The behind the car "arcade view" helped me get clear exactly
when I had entered the cones (at the cost of realism)

I was keeping the car on hoping the car would do a "doughnut"
but this didn't work - I guess you have to slide it around on
momentum rather outright power.

When I said....

I meant....
"I was keeping the *gas* on hoping the car would do a "doughnut"
but this didn't work - I guess you have to slide it around on
momentum rather outright power."

Sorry.

Now *this* is the kind of advice I like!

(you know, relax & let it flow...)

thanks... I find sometimes when racing a circuit, and more lately, the linear
courses in NFSPU, that I "lose track" of where I am until I'm at the
start/finish line.... I guess it's being "in the zone"..  and I did this at the
Monte Carlo circuit (the first one) in PU, and beat my best time by almost 14
seconds!!! (not that it's a great time, just a big difference - I still haven't
played it that much). I just wish I could remember what I did :)
