Porsche unleashed- how to do 360 degree spin

by Tim Elhaj » Thu, 01 Feb 2001 01:49:04

Porsche unleashed is a fun game. But I'm not clear on how to do the 360
degree spin in factory test driver. I'm told I need to use the handbrake,
but it's not working for me. I race into the ring, hard right, apply
handbrake, spin about 180 degrees and then stop. If I take the brake off
before I stop, I seem to spin the next 180 degrees *but* in the wrong
direction (or maybe it's a trick of the camera angle I'm using to watch the
replay). At any rate, I don't seem to be able to do it. Can anyone shed some
light on how it's supposed to work?

Thanks

Tim:

What you did is only half the process...once you yank the
handbrake...basically you can release it.  But, as you are nearing the
completion of the first 180 degrees, you must steer in the opposite lock
(say you are doing a circle that turns right initially, you then whip it
around to the left side) so your wheels are pointing in teh direction where
you want the car to travel.  This should whip the car to continue its 360
spin.

Having never played the game, but if it's anything like real life ;-) or
other games then you only need to use the handbrake a tiny bit to get the
car to start to spin, then, as soon as you get near 180 degree wang the
wheel round as quick as you can to opposite lock.  Be ready to straighten up
again after the full 360. I guess it will take a while to get it right, and
to be able to do it in a staight line, but it's worth it ;-)

You don't actually spin 360 , just do a 180 and power round the rest and out
the other side without takeing out the cones , if my memory serves me
right - I find nfspc very frustrating - the crashes seem totally random and
very unfair - I can only manage on race before I'm too annoyed to carry on -
It's not that it's hard - I'm negative GPLRank but just inconsistent. I only
persevere 'cos I'm saving for '73 Carrera ....

1 brake to put the weight on the fornt and lift the rear
2 turn to the right, full right
3 handbrake
4 when you made 180 release the handbrake
5 turn left

You did it

You know I noticed this, too. It is kind of annoying, especially if you're
coming from a sim like GPL where when you crash there's a good reason for it
and if you practice you can avoid the crash next time.

But I like NFS because it's a nice break from the unrelenting realism of
GPL. It's nice to slam these porches around for a bit. And the gfx... O boy!

Thanks to everyone who responded! I really appreciate the help. Makes
perfect sense, too, now that you've all mentioned it. ;)

Now that I think of it, I was actually seeing the car move the wrong way
after the initial 180, but for some reason it never occurred to me to use
the steering wheel to get it to go in the direction I wanted. Go figure!
