Nascar2 Lock-up Problems

by Alois » Tue, 31 Dec 1996 04:00:00

I can't seem to solve this one so maybe someone out there can help. I am
running Nascar2 on a Compaq Presario 7180, 100mhz Pentium, 24mb Ram using a
boot disk.

Problem is random lock-ups. By random I mean they can happen anywhere,
middle of a race, setup screens, etc. I've noticed that I can play longer
in the morning than in the evening (maybe because the pc has been off all
night?). Lock never occurs at the same place twice.

Is this a hardware or software problem?  I have some sort of problem with
most of my DOS games but I have learned to live with them (usually by just
not doing something that I know will lock them up). What do you think, any
suggestions?

Do you have univibe configured. This has caused my system to lock uo
randomly within minutes every time I have tried it. Delete your uvb
config files ( or move them to another folder.)

Do you have any Power Management turned on in the BIOS?  If so try
disabling them.

Nascar2 Lock-up Problems

I don't know if it will be of any help but-- when N1 came out I had the
same problem...ramdom lock-ups and dropping me out of the game with a LOT
of codes and such across the screen.  As it wound up it was a bad mother
board.  I don't know the particulars of why it was bad but after the
computer shop changed it (under warrenty) N1 worked.  Just a thought.

I had the same problem with Nascar2. It crashed and locked up
4-5 times in the first 1/2 hour after installation. I disabled
HIMEM.SYS in the Config.sys file and all seems to be well.
