Could someone tell me what causes the caution flag to stay displayed for the
rest of the race once it comes out when racing at Indianapolis. How can this be
corrected?

There is an error in the track file INDY.TXT (I think the same thing is
true for Detroit).  Papyrus provided a fix and it is available at
fpt.std.com under vendors/papyrus

Actually I just fired off the message about ftp'ing to std.com without
checking my own archives.  Here is the info on how to fix the eternal
yellow flag problems by hand.  It will require a straight ascii editor,
the edit program that comes with DOS 5 or greater will work fine.  To be
safe make backup copies of these files before editting them!!!!

There are three tracks that suffer from this "yellow flag bug":
Indianapolis, Detroit, and Mid-Ohio.  To fix this, go to these tracks'
<TRACK>.TXT files in each of the tracks' subdirectories and make these
substitutions to the variable GFLAG.

INDY.TXT          64198652
DETROIT.TXT       64698698
MIDOHIO.TXT       66789081

I seem to remember reading that the patch for Indy is not available at
ftp.std.com - try the didnt.doit.wisc.edu address instead...

It's a bug. Look in ftp.world.com in the Papyrus directory (ftp/vendors/papyrus).
 I'm sure you'll find it there. If not, try the Papyrus BBS. I know for a fact that it's
there.
