The spotter in NL cuts out all the time. I can hear, "The pace car is in,"
then it's "Gr..." and that's it. I know they didn't have spotters back then,
but I like it. System is Pentium 200 w/MMX, SoundBlaster AWE32, Thustmaster
GameCard, T2, 32 Meg RAM. I also know this ain't no powerhouse PC, but I can
still race till I can do better.

I get that too with the 8-bit sound.  Changing to 16-bit cures all that.

He's crying the green flag straight in my ears... (but I think you
know)

BTW: I (german who I am) speak not really*so* good english to
understand all of what the (full) spotter says. Can anyone give me and
others the real words the spotter is speaking? You would help me more
understanding the spirit of NASCAR (you know, in Europe we have not
such kind of racing).

BTW 2: I love that sim.

The tip I received earlier, switch to 16 Bit sound, worked, probably will
work for you too!!!

That isn't the problem (I have 16 Bit sound). But my english is too
simple to understand all of the spotter-words. But I have a solution:
switching "speech" to "text" *shows*me the words, he's telling. That's
enough.

Oops....sorry, well, for what it's worth, the text is the exact same as the
speech.....

: Oops....sorry, well, for what it's worth, the text is the exact same as the
: speech.....

But he has one hell of an accent.  There are a lot of German dialects I
have problems with, but I had no problem watching "La Vite e Bella" with
German subtitles.  So I can imagine that it is easier for a German
speaking person to read the text than to understand the Southern drawl.

Wow, and for thinking they actually changed the whole spotter thing! ;)

The spotter/crew chief in N3 and NL has NOT a southern accent.  He has a
typical (very normal) American accent.  Ok maybe a "Posse" accent from
Pennsylvania ;)

If you guys have problem with the normal accent in N3/NL, then ouch you must
have never heard Ron Gaines, the old spotter back in N2 and NR99.  He had a
Southern accent, which we really all liked (as we all like the ones in
N3/NL, even if they don't have the same catch accent).  And no it wasn't Ned
Jarrett <g>

It was "cahhhh high" and "you writ front TAAAAH is down" and some other
funny stuff!

Well, Phil and Steve, you are both right. But now I have no problem to
understand, whtaever a slang it would be. The one thing is to
understand and (the easier) other is to translate. P.e. I allways
understood "They are all around" instead of "Clear all around". You
can imagine, hwo I feel in my car, when I was so sure, that
only*one*car was beside me.... :-))

Thanx for help

Uli
