hi,
i just buy a new voodoo2 12 meg to increase fps in gpl with sli mode and gpl
become slower than before i had one voodoo2 ?
is anybody has the same pb ?
if yes, how to solve it ?
thanks

Have a look at my previous post to get some info on what you should expect.
You aren't the first to report this. SLI will help a lot at higher
resolutions but ultimately Voodoo 2 will be bottlenecked by your cpu. What
is your system and how are you running GPL?

In reality, I only thought SLI provides higher resolutions, not really
any speed increase.  As it is, you are increasing the workload of your
CPU and bus by adding the 2nd card.  Also, it seems that the clock speed
of the Voodoo2's are being reduced somewhat by the current drivers while
in SLI mode.

thanks for your answer.
my system is a p2-350 ov 400.
since yesterday, i change refresh rate of voodoo2 board (85hz) and put a cross
for
"don't sync...".
it works well but not as i could expect.

You probably shouldn't reduce the clock speed to 85. The reference drivers
reduce the clock setting by 5Mhz in sli mode to optimise compatibility so
your cards are running at 80Mhz. Try 95Mhz which will give you 90. As I've
already reported, SLI does work well at high resolutions and graphically
intense situations. However, Voodoo 2 cards are reliant on the cpu to deal
with some of the rendering and GPL makes VERY high demands for, amongst
other things, the AIs. I've found 13 opponents a good compromise in my own

All SLI does is split up the work. Instead of one card rendering every line, one
card renders the even lines and the other the odd. The reason you can get 1024x768
with SLI is that the cards only need half as much frame buffer since they are only
rendering half the screen. I don't think that having two cards would put any more
demand on your system (at least none that you'd notice) and they definitely DO
help performance (again because they each only have to do half the amount of
work). The reason people aren't seeing that much of an performance boost with SLI
in GPL is because the cards are cpu limited not fill limited. GPL makes the cpu
spend so much time doing the physics and AI that it can't dish out the triangle
data quick enough. That means that even if you could render 1 billion pixels/sec
it wouldn't matter since you don't have the data that you need to render.

But why would an SLI setup be SLOWER?

how do you overclock your PII 350 to 400 ??
i cannot change the factor? only thing i can do is run it at 112MHz x
3,5 = 392 MHz?
