Is it only me, or is "Driven" a copy of  Grand Prix (the movie) 1967  ?

Wouldnt be the first time...

Independance Day is Henry V
10 Things I hate about you is Taming of the Shrew
West Side Story is Romeo and Juliet.

OK - so they're all Shakespeare examples - but Grand Prix is the Shakespeare
of motor-movies, right?

It's only you, because Driven is a crappy movie while Grand Prix stands upon
itself ;)

Wait a second here.  In the case of West Side Story or, more recently,
Clueless (I think "Emma" is what they were doing with that one) you're
talking about movies that self-consciously are patterning themselves
after literary masterpieces in order to tap deep into the psyche of
the mythologies of Western Civilization.

If "Driven" is ripping off Grand Prix they are just plagiarizing.

I don't see how anybody could tell if they were ripping off Grand Prix
or not, though, because the movie didn't even make a little bit of
sense.  To top if off, those are CART cars, right?

know any better. We racing fans just puked...

Definitely one of the worst movies I've ever seen, right up there with
"Volcano".

I saw the video box at the rental store....the champ car on the cover has
all the advertising blacked out.  Did Nextell get bad feedback from the
reviews of the movie?

In the future please don't speak of the film Driven, and the Epic Grand Prix
in the same sentence.

No, trust me, by how long it stayed at our theater, regular fans didn't like
it either. (One week, I think that's a new record for suckitude.)

Hmm...anyone got Grand Prix on 35mm? ;)

Sadly, I agree with you 100% on your assessment.  "Driven" is a bad joke.

Gramd Prix is shot on 70mm film I think. At least it was shown on a 70mm
festival in Norway.

Ok...  ... "Grand Prix" was a great movie.
"Driven" is a joke ...  but so many part of the film was like copy & paste
from Grand Prix.

Wow - expensive stuff that.  $1500 per 3 minute roll for filming

I think Ken Bran's Hamlet was shot on that stuff - the knocked down to 35
mm - but it makes for a very vivid picture.

I don't know what Sly has "Driven" to make this movie anyway.
