HELP WITH NASCAR1

by becbl.. » Thu, 12 Dec 1996 04:00:00

For some reason, Nascar 1 will not recognize my joystick,  I need help
tryin to figure out the problem.

I'm running a Pentium166 with 32M RAM, Windows95, Soundblaster AWE32
soundcard, Microsoft sidewinder 3D pro joystick, and Matrox MGA
millennium.  I'll provide additional specs if you need them.

The joystick will calibrate in Windows95.  The joystick works in
Wolfinstein3D.  I've taken the system to the shop and they can't figure
out why it won't work.  SIERRA has been "helpfully" unhelpful.

Anyone with any thoughts, hints or ideas will be of great help.  OK, so
maybe not "great" help, but at this point, any help will do.

Thank,
Brian

I suspect that you have a game port which requires initialization or a
driver/tsr loaded.  For example, my CH game port requires that you run
CHJOY3 to get the port setup and running.  Windows 95 probably has a
joystick driver that performs this function, so your joystick works ok in
Windows 95.  However, in DOS mode, this driver is not loaded - thereby you
need the driver or tsr.  I place chjoy3.exe in the autoexec.bat file.
Please reply privately if you have more info/need more help.  /THansen
