But is it their own physics engine, or are they licensing it from ISI and
tweaking?

It's a fun game, don't worry. Ed has a problem with the publishers business
ethics rather than the game itself.

Be sure to Google this group with regard to posts regarding controller setup
in this game as it sometimes displays some quircks.

Actually I dont, Jan.
I own several EA games.. Infact the 3 last ones I bought were all EA and by
the look of it so will the next one be..

I don't play F1C 'cause it's "crap"...  Compared to other racing sims *I
think* it sucks. The online play is crap, the menu's system stinks and the
controller setup is hell to get right...

Thus I've played the game about 4 times and thats it... (read waste of
money)   Like I said the same day I bought it... I wish I'd gotten Rise of
Nations" instead..

Yea with 3 fps in a race. I'll be suprised if they can pull this off.

F1C Mods haven't really picked up yet. The ETCC and DTM Mods will
probably turn it into a great sim. Now its just F1 2002 without great
Mods like GTR2002 and SCR and with (just) slightly better MP, graphics
and driving model. Too many downloads (got 2Gb of add-ons for it) and
nothing really exciting yet...

As for SimBin... anyone know if they wil develop their own engine
(driving model) or will they buy a license for an existing one (like
F1C's for example...)?

I find it hard to believe in a mid 2004 release date if they are
developing an engine from scratch.

Regs,

I'm sorry, I thought you were the "the patch is next years full game"-guy.

Online is indeed not as good as in Papyrus games, but it's not ***either.
Menu system is not very practical, but there is some logic to it, as opposed
to, say, GP4. Controller setup is indeed poor out of the box, but on the
plus side the configuration can be manually edited to correct mistakes the
game has made through not correctly identifying your hardware.

I'm geting my money's worth out of it. The F1 part asks a little too much
commitment, but the mods are fun *AND* there's finally a decent version of
Zolder ("local" track) for a sim.

THe LeMans 24hr 2k2 mod has had 50 cars running in f1 2k2 for months
now...some slowdown at the start, but not much after that.
F1c has even better pit code so the limitations of over 36 cars using the
pits is gone as well.  I've run an early beta of LM24hr_C(or whatever they
will officially name the F1c mod) with the 50 2k2 cars ported over and the
framerate will not be a drawback on most of the newer systems out there.
XzibitA's gtr hack has had about 50 cars from the get-go.

That's awesome..
I'm also assuming that the 24 hours at Spa is going to have changing
time-of-day effects and maybe changing weather effects?? With all that being
the case.. I can't wait to try and tackle the 24 hour race realtime with my
friend.

PLEASE let there be a realtime 24 hour race option.

That's a rather big assumption to make given that the press release only
mentions the cars themselves...
