A few days ago I posetd some K6-2 vs.K6-3 numbers.
My friend ran the same test on his 588 MHz Celery with the following
results.

19 cars, full detail and eye candy (except mirrors = cars + track only.
Full mirror refresh rate), 16 sounds, 800x600.  In car view.

Monza:        20.x on the grid, 24.x a few seconds after the start.
Spa:            17.x, 22.x
Glen:            18.x, 23.x

K6-3 / 450 got

M        13.7, 12.x
S           11.5, 10.x
G            13.3, 11.x

K6-2 / 450 got:

Monza        9.7, 8.x
Spa            8.1, 7.x
Glen            9.3, 8.x

All the systems get to 36 fps after the field thins out.  The K6-2 will
occasionaly slow below 36 fps during a race.
The more serpentine tracks seem to have a higher CPU demand.  I guess
the AI needs more "think time" to figure out their lines, etc.

I guess I should have got a Celery mobo back in late 98!

You should buy a Voodoo3, now...

Hate to say this but the system I built forGPL last year smokes those
numbers.

Thriller.

No doubt that for GPL the rendition based 8meg cards are king.
I had a VRaptor 8meg AGP and it was awesome for GPL, both graphically
and speed wise.

I have a K6-2 400 and a 8MB Rendition AGP for over a year now.
That's okay up to 800x600, but way too slow at 1024x768.

Just got myself a K6-2 500, because my motherboard is a little too old
for K6-III (according to Epox website the revision number 1.0 is
required, and mine from 11/98 has only 0.6).
I hope the 500 will produce a noticeable difference in performance,
but certainly not +25% like the clock speed.

So you guys think replacing the Rendition with a V3 would be a
downgrade?

Can't say whether it would be an upgrade or downgrade, but the manual
says that the rendition is best for slower processors. I found that my
k6-2 300 (with banshee) was good on training, but poor (actually

compared.

The main 2 probs with the k6 2's is the poor FPU and the slow cache.
The full speed cache on the celeron and good FPU are essential for the

slow, but it is very weak in those 2 areas.

k6-2 300 at Kyalami, 640x480 full detail at back of grid: 9fps and 36
when alone
800 : 8 fps and 27-36
1024 : 7 and 27-36

celeron 550 and banshee, 640 : 22 and 36
800 : 20 and 36
1024 : 18 and 33-36

All in car. Outside view is rock solid 36 for all res.

I would say that for online or training, a v3 would be worth it, but
it will struggle with AI cars.
