Radeon 9700 problem

When I play N2003, there are pixelated vertical bars evenly spaced across my
screen. This happens in d3d and ogl modes. The game ran fine before direct x
9.0b and updating the ati drivers.  I've tried re-loading the old drivers
(one had a checkerboard of pixelated squares). And apparently reverting to
an earlier version of directx is not simple to do.  Any suggestions
appreciated.

You might try using Rage 3d tweak and underclocking the card. This may
indicate a faulty card. Other than that I would suspect a driver install
issue.

If you're running XP, Windows should have created a restore point for DX.
Tried upping AGP voltage (BIOS-permitting) ?
Could be your GPU cooling - remove the spacer with a razor blade, allowing
firm contact twixt GPU and sink.
Obviously remove thermal tape and apply goop.
May sort it, may not.

Or before doing all that, get this DX 9.0 uninstaller.
Worked for me.

All that ?
I think returning to a restore point would be a lot safer (not to mention
easier and quicker) from a Windows POV than running an unofficial app.

 get this DX 9.0 uninstaller.
