You gotta be kidding.  I would never own a console.  For anything.

An emphatic YES. I originally bought the PS2 (last year) almost solely for
the purpose of getting GT3, but it was delayed for almost a year . This is
the greatest all around racing game ever made IMHO. Its graphics put
everything else to shame. Its physics are just a notch below Nascar 4's and
GPL's. But overall it exceeds both in total execution and polish.

Well, I own a Nintendo(original) and a Playstation 1.  They really don't get
much use.  By the time I bought the PS1, it was only $99.  I don't see paying
over $200 for the PS2 just for ONE game...  I don't have that kind of
'disposable' income to waste money that way...<g>

No.  I think it's my frickin opinion, which was asked for in the subject
line.  Kiddo.  ;-)  It's just fine with me if others get one.  But I was
asked my opinion & gave it truthfully.

I will not even consider a game that claim it is a racing game
without a***pit view.

Putting a***pit view with 3d hands, wheel, radio and air conditioning is
eye-candy, and will slow down the game, which is already doing a huge amount
of processing. I prefer either the bumper cam or hood camera (looking down
on the bonnet like Screamer Rally).

By the way, if you have been to or seen footage from E3 2001, you will be
amazed by the quality of the PS2. I am going to buy one, because there are
already 16 games I want to own on it.

Nick.

Nope. I gave up on console systems years ago (Sega Genesis was the
last for me) so that I could  play more realistic simulations (racing
and flight-sim) and wargames. Most games on console systems are arcade
games and I would never buy a system just for one game even if it is
good.

I believe if the graphics are the best you have seen, Your computer must not
be too good.

Nah, sorry sir.  I'd have to join others in an attempt to change their

Papyrus did a sim for the Playstation, based on Nascar2.  It was not a
good seller.  Currently Nascar Heat is available for the Playstation , soon
the playstation2 and Xbox

Eye candy yes, but most drivers in racing cars, like Winston Cup Stockers
or Touring Cars, sit so low in the car that they can't see the hood.  So
sitting in the***pit seems the best to me.   However either the hood or
bumper cam are preferable to the tail-gunner view that many 'sims' seem to
use.
I've seen nice lovely screen shots that absolutely SCREAM for FSAA.  It's
amazing how easy it is to be spoiled by such a feature.  My son has both the
PS2 and the Dreamcast...the DC almost always outshines the PS2 graphically
due to the ease with which it can use FSAA.  ps2 has some very servere
roadblocks to programmers who wish to use AA.
However, as the Game Cube and Xbox become available, you will see a
dramatic price drop in the PS2.
If you are planning on buying that console...I'd recomend waiting a couple
more months.
