N3: GeoForce replaced V3 3000 Question

by Andrew Hen » Wed, 31 Jan 2001 08:45:05

I just replaced my Voodoo 3 3000 card with a CL Annihilator 2 32 mb
card. N3 ran smooth on the V3 with most detail on. With the new card and

same detail on it is choppy. Are there N3 settings or card settings that

I should tweak to get it smooth? I have the D3D option choosen in N3
right now. I have a PIII 550 mhz Dell with 256 mb ram.
Thanks
Andy

With a 550, you best bet would be to put the V3 back in.

You'll be better served by upgrading your CPU.  I've recently found that
out the hard way.  My Celeron466 o/c to 525 ran slower with a 32MB GF2

well again.  ;-)

Try www.geforcefaq.com  I also went from a V3 to a geforce2 and the
difference is amazing - there *must* be something wrong with your
setup. Thats the problem with these Nvidia jobs, they are so setup
sensitive.

Good luck,

Pete Gibbins

I too just went from a V3 to a Geforce 2 MX and I have to say my framerates
have gone up in one or two games but halfed in most. If this is such a 3dfx
beating card why the hell does it have so many problems that requre you to
tweak the things for days just to get something than the pitch black choppy
images straight out of the box???? Oh well i guess its right up there with
Microsoft making the worlds most used and useless os...

173 letters:

These GFII cards seem to be very processor-dependant, the faster your
processor is, the better they work. What I read is that you should
have something like a PIII800 processor before the GFII card really
kicks in..
