D3DDevice = 0
change that to
[ Direct3D7 ]
D3DDevice = 1
you should then be able to boot to d3d(provided you've added that patch) and
then choose whatever 3d rasterizer you want.

Thanks for the quick response.
I looked in the core.ini and saw no lines at all that had any of that
in them. BTW, I have a Voodoo Banshee card (if that matters). Should
I add that line? then?
You could be adventurous and try the Windows 2000 beta Banshee drivers which
should work under Windows XP.
