Well, since there is a 3Dfx patch for N2, why settle for a lesser
supported
3D card?

Nascar2 looks hideous under the 3DFX patch... the Rendition version
blows it away.

The 3Dfx patch is okay, if you like driving in chase-cam mode.***pit mode
gives a lower frame rate than the non-accelerated version. Also, you'll get the
'fuzziness' that the Voodoo and Voodoo2 are famous for (which doesn't bother
me a whole lot.) The best card for N2 is still a Rendition-based one,
preferably a v2200 card like the Hercules Thriller3D.

I've run the GPL demo on both the Voodoo2 and Rendition 2200, and while
the Rendition makes it look a bit better, the difference isn't as big as
it is in Nascar2.

Still, an 8MB 2200 for $73 is an amazing deal... I thought I did well
when I found my 4MB V-Raptor for $79 at a local store...

Oh, I've got an Intense 3D Rendition card, too, but the difference
wouldn't make me buy one now instead of a Voodoo. Now and for
quite some time you get the best game support with 3Dfx.

Oh my, as he doesn't have a 3D card now, I thought it'd be worthwhile to
tell him, that the difference doesn't justify a Rendition based card!
So he gets GREAT graphics in N2, but lesser graphics in F1RS, GPL, etc.,
etc.

Sorry for waisting your bandwidth...

I'm not so sure... I haven't looked at F1RS on the Rendition, only 3DFX,
but I definitely think GPL looks better on the Rendition than on a 3DFX
card.

What resolution can you run on your Rendition card with GPL?

Mine's a 4 Meg, I can run 640*480 and 800*600 in GPL. the 8 Meg
Rendition 2200's can goto 1024*768 as I understand it.
